I Long to Be a Dolphin Free

I wish that I could be a dolphin free...
To break the glassy water with my wake,
To fly as seagulls do for flying's sake,
To laugh and soar beneath the briny sea.
I long to feel the water on my skin,
To have a form so smooth and gray and sleek.
I close my eyes and feel my delphin beak.
I feel at one among my delphin kin.
I draw my flukes through water cold and clear,
And stretch my tail to push me through the deep.
As dolphin do I feel, but man asleep
Am I, and waking end do I so fear.
Yet open do my eyes in water blue...
The dream is real; I am a dolphin true!
