Plagiarism is bad. It is wrong to rip off the creative endeavors of another for one's own benefit. But influence is unavoidable. Parody is wonderful when done correctly. And fan art/fan fiction are alright, as far as I'm concerned. So long as the proper efforts are made to stay true to the original intents of the artist, and correct ownership is maintained, I see nothing wrong with a bit of artistic exercise, writing in another's universe or playing around a bit with another's characters.
I myself have been at times inspired to draw a pre-existing character in a new situation, or write a story about someone else's story. Examples of this which fall into the realm of transformation are posted in this area of the Menagerie. Remember that, while these drawings and stories are mine, most of the characters and events depicted are from someone else's brain. I make no claim of ownership of any of these characters, merely my own artistic or literary views of them.

The Rubber Brush - Summer Vacation

This idea is entirely Naga's fault: imagine a paint brush that perpetually drips organic rubber... it has the power (or the curse, depending on its use) to transform flesh into rubber. It can brush away limbs or brush new limbs into existence. It can join varying beings into a permanently rubbery embrace, alter textures, or create virtually any transformation known to the mind of the painter. So imagine the possibilities... In this series of comics, two college friends by the name of Alex and Brooke spend two weeks in a cabin up in the mountains, taking turns 'entertaining' themselves with a rubber brush Alex bought off eBay. Alex gets the brush for the first week, and Brooke has it for the second week. Every day is a new transformation...

Aladdin
|
|
For whatever reasons, I enjoyed Disney's Aladdin series very much. And the transformation community seems to have a never-ending infatuation with Princess Jasmine. So it makes sense that I would devote some of my creative energies to art or prose inspired by this cartoon.

A Wolf in Princess' Clothing
This untold adventure takes place in Agrabah, the home of Aladdin and Princess Jasmine (from the Disney cartoon series "Aladdin"). A wolf-like creature is terrorizing the palace, and it is up to Aladdin and his friends to get to the bottom of things.

Final Fantasy VII
|
|
In the Playstation game Final Fantasy VII, a group of heroes and antiheroes are thrown together by events that threaten the entire planet. For many reasons this has always been one of my favorite game in the Final Fantasy series, including (but not limited to) a phenomenal story, great music, epic scope, and unique characters.

Tifa Chocobo

In an untold chapter of Final Fantasy VII, Tifa found herself bearing more than a passing resemblance to her feathered steed. This drawing predates my use of the computer to ink, but came out well enough in my opinion that I'm keeping it out of Discontinued Artwork.

Freex
|
|
In the mid-90's, Malibu Comics produced a number of comic book series set in the "Ultraverse," a tightly woven character-driven fictional setting. One Ultraverse series, Freex, dealt with a group of teenagers with physically-deforming powers, not trying to save the world but merely trying to survive. Freex stands at the top of my list of comics I have read, because of the superb continuity (tying together virtually all the books in the Ultraverse setting) and the intriguing characters.

Angela Salizar

All Angela Salazar ever wanted was to be just like everyone else. Instead, she found herself sprouting prehensile tentacles, which soon covered her entire body. She joined with the rest of the Freex, where she was given the "gang name" Sweet Face, and eventually fell in love with Louis "Anything" Phillips.

The Powerpuff Girls
|
|
The Powerpuff Girls were created by Dr. Utonium, a scientist who was seeking to create the "perfect little girls," but who inadvertently created three superheroes. The Cartoon Network series is quite smart, and is appealing because of its unique artistic style and for its subtle references to pop culture.

Bubbles Blowfish

In an episode of the Powerpuff Girls that never existed, Mojo Jojo created a weapon that combined the Powerpuff Girls with various animals, in the hopes that they would either be unable to thwart his plan, or would sympathize with their animal associate. Here is Bubbles, as huggable as a blowfish.
Buttercup Bullfrog

Buttercup has always been the most bull-headed member of the Powerpuff Girls… so it seems somehow fitting that Mojo Jojo crossed her with a bullfrog, in an effort to help the girls to better understand his simian plight. Needless to say, she was less than thrilled about this.
