Welcome to the Menagerie, a place on the World Wide Web dedicated to the transformational artwork and literature of StormDrake (that's me). Here there be dragons, and stranger creatures from beyond the boundaries of conventional thought. Feel free to wander around, but be careful what you touch. Change is an inevitability in life, and few leave the same way they came. Welcome.

This time around, a little more artwork by yours truly. And there is even more on the way. Long-story short, a major computer crash more than half a year ago fried my motherboard, processor and at least one stick of RAM. It took me a month or so to get back up and running, but ever since then Photoshop CS2 would freeze up my computer randomly, making it difficult to create new artwork. 6.0 still worked, but after a year with CS2, it just wasn't the same. A week or two ago, I finally got around to picking up a stick of RAM, a full GB that I used to replace one of my three remaining half-gig sticks. This brought me back up to 2 GB of RAM, and apparently got rid of an unstable RAM stick, resulting in CS2 working beautifully again. So now I am all into creating new artwork again. We'll see how that goes, but at the very least you can expect more than one or two new drawings within the next six months.

Happy belated New Year!
Yeah, this isn't quite the all-encompassing update I was planning four months ago. But a few bouts of craziness decided to afflict this thing called life, not the least of which a sudden change in employment. I won't get into unnecessary details, but I'm getting things back under control and returning to normalcy, and that includes getting some content up on the Menagerie.
Only one new pic from me... and as the watermark displays, it was done all the way back in November. I honestly haven't devoted much time to transformations or related subjects in the past few months. But this is not a permanent situation, and as I take care of all the endeavors that have piled up since the end of 2005, I will certainly get around to contributing more art and literature to my own site.
And in the mean time, there are some quite excellent contributions from other writers and artists present in this update. So enjoy the fruits of these guests' labors while I continue to play catch up. Thanks!

Just a quick update, all for the Saga of Blood… there's a new image drawn by yours truly, an updated version of one of my older pics. Darker has also been kind enough to provide the Saga of Blood with a twelve-part transformation sequence that is definitely worth checking out. Both he and Solo Ion have provided second chapters to their respective Saga of Blood chronicles. And after more than six years, I have finally gotten around to writing the next chapter in the lives of Aimee, Tara and the rest of those who dwell in paradise. Hopefully, it was worth the wait.
I haven't forsaken the rest of the Menagerie; the next update will most likely include material for all sections of my site. Nonetheless, I hope you enjoy this latest onslaught of art and literature, and return at a later date (whenever that may be) for the next batch.

First off, there is a new Saga of Blood website. To make a long story short, I decided that the Saga of Blood setting - and all its content - had outgrown the previous site design for that section of the Menagerie. So I redesigned it from the ground up and created a stand-alone Saga of Blood website. It is still a part of the Menagerie, and will remain as such. But hopefully, the Saga of Blood should be a bit more integrated, and more accessible. Let me know if this is not the case.
Secondly, this is easily the largest addition of new content to the Menagerie in all of its 6+ years… and none of it is mine. A fan of the Saga of Blood by the name of Darker has done me the honor of illustrating one of every possible blood mutant in the Saga of Blood setting - that's 76 different characters! I cannot express what it means to me, as a creator, to have someone take such an interest in my work. Needless to say, Darker has earned a special place as contributor to the Saga of Blood, and deserves some major praise. He was also helpful in the design and implementation of the new site, and has provided some non-Saga of Blood content to the Menagerie as well.
I haven't had much creative free time to spend on art or fictional writing lately - as of this month, I am editor of a monthly magazine reaching 80,000 homes and businesses in three editions throughout Southwest Florida. Needless to say, this has taken some time to get going. But now that the new Saga of Blood site is completed, I should (theoretically) have some more time to devote to my pen. Who knows… maybe the next update will actually include some of my own work.

Anyway, here is everything I've got together for an update at this point. As you can see, I was going for a Saga of Blood-only update, which I thought would be a cool thing to do. I even revised and updated a few of my stories, to reflect some behinds-the-scene changes (Nirvana is now Haven… even after all these years, I still couldn't get a certain Seattle grunge group out of my head). Unfortunately, I've gotten so sidetracked, both by work and by other creative endeavors, that I never got around to finishing this update. I've got two or three more images that still need to be inked and colored, but rather than wait another few months on those, I came to the decision that it would be best to cut my losses this time around.
Lots of fan submissions, as the above list should make obvious. And there will be even more for the next update (one notable contributer has been sending me one illustration of each of the possible species of blood mutations in the Saga of Blood). I love getting other people's additions to the Saga of Blood universe, whether it be art or literature. All I ask is that you try to keep things in line with the rest of the setting. But nonetheless, thanks for helping to make the Menagerie an even more diverse place.
Hopefully I will get some new art finished up and placed on this site in the near future. I guess I can't expect to update on a monthly basis, but the Menagerie is approaching seven years of existence… I have a feeling it will be around for some time to come. So be patient, and expect additional stories and artwork to come. Eventually.

No, I'm not dead. I'm perfectly fine, I'm still drawing and writing transformation-themed materials, and I really do have an update in progress. I've just been swamped with so much work that I haven't been able to devote enough time to the Menagerie (and yes, believe it or not, I really have been swamped for six months). I've got half of an awesome update done, and only need to finish a few more images before posting it here. Sorry for the wait... but it's all because of good things, I swear.

Today is the Sixth Anniversary of the founding of the Menagerie!
On January 11th, 1999, I uploaded the first page of what I hoped would become a place for my own transformation-themed art and literature. Originally hosted on Fortune Cities, the Menagerie has gone through numerous incarnations over the past six years. From Fortune Cities, I moved my site to Crosswinds, then to TransFur, and finally to Furvect. I have added colors, JavaScript, and CSS. And I have uploaded more than 150 pieces of art... not counting today's twelve new additions!
A lot has happened since the last time I updated this site. Four hurricanes, massive vehicle problems, and major computer upgrades are just a few of the difficulties I have had to deal with. So I appologize for taking so much time to create some new art (almost six months, in fact). Hopefully, it is worth the wait. And hopefully, there won't so long of a wait until the next update.
Finally, a quick note that I recently figured out how to Justify text using HTML tags. So you might notice that all the text on this site has been Justified. Yep.
Anyway, I hope that everyone has a happy and enjoyable 2005. Thanks for everything!

100,000!
On Wednesday, December 29, 2004, the Menagerie saw its 100,000th visitor (or at least, it's 100,000th visit). Holy heck, I can't believe it. When I first started this site back at the beginning of 1999, I didn't really expect it to become especially popular. And it's certainly not the most visited transformation site on the Internet. But 100,000... wow. Thank you, everyone.
Congradulations to Frank Clockwork and LiquidGargoyleElisa, who were nice enough to provide me with screenshots of 99,999 and 100,000 hits, thus earning a free commission each.
Anyway, I know I was supposed to have an update here, but computer problems have kept me from being able to access my site until today. So I'll be combining a belated 100,000-hits update with a six-year anniversary update, and have about a dozen new pieces of art for public exhibition on January 11th. So be sure to drop by next Tuesday for some new artwork!
